We are huge fantasy, fiction, and sci-fi fans so we were more than ready to intertwine those passions into New Orleans’ landscape. We conceptualized the Faerie in the Swamp idea over the past 2 months. Eager to bring the idea to fruition, we looked at our calendar and found a free morning for the photo-shoot.
Days before, Laura and our model Ivette went hunting at a local thrift store and found the perfect pixie aesthetic dress, as well as 3 hardcover early editions of Anne Rice’s books. Clearly, it was a great day for everyone.
Our go-to beautician Maria Bonilla, owner of Helena Salon & Spa, styled Ivette’s hair the morning of the shoot. Our dear friend and LOTR super fan, Cristina Sanchez, created the perfect look for this event contributing her mastery of the craft of makeup art. She did an exquisite job with Ivette's makeup.
After styling hair and makeup, we drove 40 minutes to the Barataria Preserve, part of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park, which is a swamp area with boardwalks for people to walk on. It was hot, humid, and damp… it’s a swamp! We had to act fast because the makeup can only fight sweat for so long.
Here are the winners of the session.
